IXAYA YULU was born out of a desire to share the ancient customs, magnificent colors, and traditional handcrafts of the many diverse ethnic groups in Oaxaca, Mexico with the world.
IXAYA YULU are two Nahuatl words meaning "to open the eyes of the heart." My hope is that by sharing this craft along with this minimalistic way of life; eyes are open and hearts are moved to the needs of others. Each month, we donate 20% of our profits to the skillful artisans, who make our beautiful curated textiles and crafts in Oaxaca city, Mitla, and Santa María del Tule.
IXAYA YULU ... Abrir los ojos al corazón Our mission is to support and help preserve the livelihoods, well-being, and cultural values of rural indigenous families and their communities through fair trade and ethical purchasing.
Our artisans put a little piece of their heart in each of the handcraft they produce. This is why each piece is one of a kind and has a story. We proudly import all of our products from different parts of rural Oaxaca, in the southern part of Mexico, all the way to Washington, DC. We partner with a collaborative of women artisans to import quality, unique products. All shipments are fulfilled from our nation's capital, (Go Wiz!).
